The city of Thornton is about a 30-minute drive southwest of Mason City one mile west of I-35. The town has a population around 400 people with just under 200 households.
This small city provides some nice local businesses. This includes restaurants, a convenience store/gas station, banking and more.

For recreation, there are many options. You can spend time at one of the two parks. Ingebretson Park has Bailey creek running through it making for a nice cool spot to sit and relax or wet a line. The community center is available for local events. You can also get the clubs out for the local 9 hole course where at least 3 holes require you hit over the creek that runs through it. If the weather isn’t cooperating, one can always check out the local library too.
